Day One of Forever!
This marks the beginning of our journey. If you are reading this, that means Amber and I (Marissa) have posted our first YouTube video (insert crowd cheers). Our families, the Randalls and Raukars, are making the switch from city living to a more alternative rural lifestyle.
So let me start from the beginning. A long long time ago .... wait wrong story. A couple years ago Amber, the other beautiful woman you will see in our videos, presented to the rest of us the idea of living off the land. Not as rustic as it sounds but the idea is still there. She presented to us the idea of living an alternative lifestyle to the 9-5 city life we live now. Let me tell you, I have never supported an idea as quickly and aggressively as I did this one. But the idea was just a thought at this time. A fleeting moment in our life that was pushed aside for the things we had coming up. Amber and Ken's wedding was soon approaching! It was beautiful, they both looked amazing and yes, I cried A LOT.
As the days after the wedding calmed and passed, the idea slowly started to pop up again. Amber and I started to discuss more the idea of changing how we lived. It went from a fleeting idea to something bigger, a dream. This dream turning into more dreams and then it turned into plans. We sat down and made a list. A list of things we couldn't live without. Things that had become creature comforts and things the men treasured as well. Amber started looking at land for sale in our state, other states and started logging what we would be looking for in our price range. Then pause, another big thing was being planned, Ed and my wedding.
More tears from me. It was beautiful and over too quickly.
Now weddings out of the way, we brought the dream back. Financials, researching, planning for months and here we are today. We have 13 acres under contract and an amazing dream that is so close, I can smell the fresh air, feel the sun on my face, and dream of my future home.
When I say its been a journey thus far, I mean it and we aren't even on the land yet. There have been tears shed, anxieties elevated and stress galore! The thing I have learned up to this moment is to take a moment, breathe, and take things day by day. Yes, there will be ups and downs along the journey but its all going to be worth it. So welcome and stick around for all the experiences to come.
