Embracing the Minimalist Lifestyle

Hey everyone! We wanted to take a moment to share just how far we’ve come as we prepare to go off the grid. It’s been a whirlwind of selling off our belongings and embracing a minimalist lifestyle. Garage sales have been our best friends lately. We’ve parted ways with so much stuff - I mean, who really needs five toasters, right? Every item sold brings us a step closer to living simply and sustainably.

Our New Property in Virginia

This past March, we took the plunge and bought 14 stunning acres in Virginia! It’s a beautiful slice of land that we can’t wait to turn into our homestead. The first week was an adventure, as we got our hands dirty with a shiny new chainsaw in tow.

Clearing the property has been both exhilarating and eye-opening. We discovered remnants of old trash left by previous occupants, which made us realize just how dedicated we need to be about the environment. It’s a lot of work, but every inch cleared feels like progress. We can envision our dream homestead taking shape already!

Finding Our Temporary Home

To make our off-grid dream more tangible, we’ve purchased a camper that will serve as our temporary home. Trust me; it’s cozy and a lot more functional than you might think! For now, it’s our base camp while we figure out the layout of our future homestead. We are excited to start this new chapter of our lives, embracing the great outdoors and self-sufficient living.

Most importantly, I’ve bid farewell to the 9 to 5 grind. With a newborn at home, my priorities have shifted dramatically. I'm eager to focus on family and our off-grid journey. But let’s be honest, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows—there's a mountain of work ahead of us. From setting up the camper to planning out our garden and building our home, there’s so much to do.
